U.S. Appeals Court Upholds R. Kelly’s 30-Year Sentence

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld R. Kelly's 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking, reaffirming the 2021 verdict that found him guilty of abusing his fame to exploit young women and underage girls.

Kelly’s defense argued the trial was flawed, but the court dismissed these claims, citing overwhelming evidence of his crimes. His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, challenging the use of racketeering laws in his case.

Currently incarcerated in North Carolina, Kelly is set for release in 2045. This ruling reinforces justice for survivors and the ongoing fight against sexual exploitation.
